You Were Made to Think

“My brother, sister, friend: read, study, think, and read again. You were made to think. It will do you good to think; to develop your powers by study. God designed that religion should require thought, intense thought, and should thoroughly develop our powers of thought. The Bible itself is written in a style so condensed as to require much intense study. I do not pretend to so explain theology as to dispense with the labor of thinking. I have no ability and no wish to do so.”

~ Charles Finney

God gave you a brain and the ability to reason and He expects you to use it! Spirit-filled living is not about checking our brains at the door, but having our minds renewed by the word of God so that we come to have the mind of Christ. We are commanded to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Loving Him with our mind requires that we take Him up on His invitation to come and reason together with Him!

I encourage you to engage truth with your mind and all that you are. Faith is not passive but active. As believers, it is imperative that we know what we believe and why we believe it.

“Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord”  ~Isaiah 1:18
